Jaisalmer remained very famous for It’s rich tradition of music and architectures, It was ruled by Bhatis for a long time. Due to foundation of Bahawalpur state, Devarajpur and other towns of Jaisalmer state were captured by it and the early records and inscriptions of Bhatis have gone to that area. After demolition of Lodrava, Jaisalmer was founded about VE. 1235 Due to demolition of Chauhan empire at Ajmer, several families of Sapadlaksha also came and settled there. Large scale religious and social activities took place. But due to invasion of Alauddin Khilji and Firoz Tughluq several rich families had left the state. The Sultans created drastic devastation and demolished all important temples. However, during the medieval times the rulers maintai- ned a good position. Not only the ruler’s but Maheshwaris, Oswals, Push- karnas, Bhatiyas and others also acti- vely worked in the area. Mohata (Maheshwaris) Sarupsingh and Salim- singh, were very powerful ministers. The state is also famous for its rich traditions of the temples. The rulers also adopted Bhattik-Era for some years, but its use was limited. Thus the history of Jaisalmer evokes the glory and grandeur of the Rajput courts,
